Authentication Guide
API keys, IP whitelisting, and auth methods
API Key Authentication
The primary authentication method. Your credentials are passed as the proxy username and password:
Username: customer-{CUSTOMER_ID}-{PARAMETERS}
Password: {API_KEY}
Getting Your Credentials
- Log in to your Dashboard
- Your ID Key (Customer ID) is shown on the Dashboard right side — click Copy
- Your API Key is shown below the ID Key on the Dashboard — click Copy for the full key
- Use Reset to generate a new API key (invalidates the old one)
- Manage all keys from API Keys in the sidebar
Multiple API Keys
Create separate API keys for different applications or team members:
- Navigate to Account Settings → API Keys
- Click Generate New Key
- Name the key for easy identification
- Each key can be independently activated or deactivated
️ API keys are shown only once when generated. Store them securely.
IP Whitelisting
Whitelist your server IPs to authenticate without username/password:
- Go to Account Settings → IP Whitelist
- Add your server's public IP address
- Requests from whitelisted IPs skip auth automatically
# With IP whitelisting, no auth needed: curl -x proxy.iploop.io:8880 https://ip.iploop.io/location
Proxy URL Format
# HTTP proxy URL http://customer-YOUR_ID-cc-US:[email protected]:8880 # SOCKS5 proxy URL socks5://customer-YOUR_ID-cc-US:[email protected]:1080
Security Best Practices
- Never expose API keys in client-side code or public repos
- Use environment variables to store credentials
- Rotate API keys periodically
- Use separate keys per application
- Enable IP whitelisting for production servers
